Canyon Church began in 1991 as an offshoot of First Baptist Dripping Springs. Canyon Church is a vibrant and growing congregation with a deep passion for reaching the unchurched in one of the fastest-growing areas of the Austin region. What was once a rural community has rapidly transformed into a booming Austin suburb. In response to this changing landscape, the church, while firmly Baptist in theology, intentionally removed “Baptist” from their public identity to better welcome people from a variety of backgrounds, including those with no church background at all.
Their mission is clear and compelling: “We exist to help people know Jesus, grow like Him, and go make Him known.” Their vision reflects their heart for evangelism: To see every person in Dripping Springs and Southwest Austin saved by Jesus and serving His mission. God has been moving powerfully. Over the last 4.5 years, Canyon Church has celebrated a significant rise in baptisms, salvations, and new members, as they pursue discipleship and outreach with great intentionality.
Russell Dixon is the senior pastor of Canyon Church. Pastor Dixon and his wife Liz have been married for nine years, and they have three children. Please pray for Pastor Russell and his family as they lead, serve, and shepherd in a rapidly growing and spiritually diverse community.
Please pray for Canyon Church’s Family Christmas Celebration and Christmas Eve services. The church is asking God to stir their members to intentionally engage their neighbors, friends, and unchurched families, inviting them to hear the hope of the Gospel during this season.
