  1. \u201cYou didn\u2019t send me a thank you note for my thank you note.\u201d Thank you.<\/li>\n
  2. \u201cYou are too happy!\u201d I\u2019ll make a point of being a total grump around you.<\/li>\n
  3. \u201cI will leave the church if you don\u2019t put tissue seat covers in the bathrooms!\u201d Please flush on the way out.<\/li>\n
  4. \u201cI would be happy to take your wife to the store to help her select some appropriate clothes.\u201d Please do, but don\u2019t return.<\/li>\n
  5. \u201cI guess I have to die to get you to wear a suit and tie to church again.\u201d The pastor did so the next Sunday. He\u2019s waiting on the member to hold up his end of the deal.<\/li>\n
  6. \u201cEvery sermon you preach is better than the next one.\u201d Thank you . . . no, wait.<\/li>\n
  7. \u201cWhy do we have to follow something an apostle wrote 2,000 years ago?\u201d Yep, that Bible is overrated.<\/li>\n
  8. \u201cThe VBS hot dogs are too cheap.\u201d What? We got them at LifeWay!<\/li>\n
  9. \u201cYou don\u2019t tell enough jokes when you preach.\u201d Yes, I do. I mentioned your name in my last sermon.<\/li>\n
  10. \u201cYou need to stop talking about making disciples.\u201d Yes, that criticism came from an elder.<\/li>\n
  11. \u201cWhen you changed the name from Sunday school to small groups, you took Jesus and the Bible out of the church!\u201d I agree. Read Hezekiah 4:11.<\/li>\n
  12. \u201cYou didn\u2019t give good advice about the family vacuum.\u201d Now, that\u2019s important.<\/li>\n
  13. \u201cI heard you are going to cancel Christmas.\u201d Yes, I consulted with the Grinch.<\/li>\n
  14. \u201cI don\u2019t like the color of your beard hair.\u201d Thank you. I plan to dye it pink.<\/li>\n
  15. \u201cYour hair color is too dark for someone in your profession.\u201d Don\u2019t worry. The more I hear from you, the grayer it gets.<\/li>\n
  16. \u201cJust because it\u2019s in the Bible, you don\u2019t have to talk about it.\u201d I try to be selective.<\/li>\n
  17. \u201cYour wife used the wrong spoon in the coleslaw at the church social.\u201d Thank you. She has agreed to be in timeout from church for one year.<\/li>\n
  18. \u201cWe need to throw out the guitar to the streets. The piano is the only instrument that belongs in the church.\u201d Yep, that\u2019s what the Apostle Paul said.<\/li>\n
  19. \u201cYou ended a sentence with a preposition in your sermon.\u201d What is this criticism good for?<\/li>\n
  20. \u201cYour pregnant wife is faking morning sickness.\u201d I would be happy for you to watch her throw up.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Some funny. Some sad. Some angry.<\/p>\n

    All of them are reminders of the challenges of pastoral ministry.<\/p>\n
